The club has a number of competitions that are in addition to the PI and Print leagues, and the previous winners are included here. The range of competitions has varied over the years, but most are dedicated to, or provided by former club members
2023/2024
Steve Ransom Trophy
The Steve Ransom trophy and Portfolio composition were combined this season. The subject being landscape (loosely interpreted) to represent a location. Geoff Clinton took the honours and retains the Steve Ransom trophy with his excellent landscapes from Tromso, Norway.
Albert Beale Trophy
The competition is for projected images of reflections.
This year the honour goes to Chris Bennett for her A boatload of glass balls image.
2022/2023
Steve Ransom Trophy
This year the Steve Ransom Trophy competition had Birds or Insects as its subjects, topics that among others Steve was proficient at photographing.
Three images scored 20 with first place taken by Geoff Clinton’s ‘Brimstone Butterfly on Field Scabious’.
Albert Beale Trophy
The competition is for projected images of reflections.
Geoff Clinton took first place with his Canoes image.
2021/2022
Steve Ransom Trophy
Our past chairman Steve Ransom sadly passed away in 2020 and we decided to have a competition in his memory. Steve had a wide repertoire in Photography and it was not immediately obvious which genre the competition should be based on. In the main his Photography was centred around Architecture/Landscape/Nature themes and this is the overall source of competition. Each year a more specific theme will be selected from this overall set and the competition will be based on that.
The 2022 theme was Nature/Wild life and the winner was Steve Else with Rain swept bee:
