Member Talks and Review of the St Albans Challenge

Our very own Geoff Clinton will describe his current journey from Licentiate to Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.  Through his talk hopefully Geoff will inspire others to start the journey.

Steve Ballard will then provide a gentle introduction to Affinity Photo, including pricing and a few examples.

It’s also the time to review the your 6 favourite shots from the St Albans Challenge – bring them in on a stick.  It’s not too late to have a go, even if you’re not in St Albans:

Take 6 pictures (or more if you wish), from one or more of the following Challenges
(so you could choose 1 from each, 6 from one of them or 3 from two of them, etc.)

1. Colour Splash Challenge: Take a photo of a vibrant or contrasting colour against a neutral or monochromatic background without the use of editing tools.

2. Night-time Long Exposure Challenge: Experiment with night-time photography and capture the city lights using a long exposure technique.

3. Symmetry Composition Challenge: Look for symmetry in architecture or cityscape, and capture a composition using symmetry.

4. Geometry Pattern Challenge: Capture the geometric shapes and patterns in city buildings.

5. Abstract Zoom Challenge: Take a photo of an everyday object or scene, but zoom in or crop to create an abstract image.

6. Motion Blur Challenge: Experiment with a slow shutter speed and capture the movement of people or vehicles in the city.
